The amazing lineart created by TheNekk and the fantastic design and execution by Nekkers. I think my favourite bit would probably be those amazing details on the face and that gorgeous expressive eye. SO HERE IT IS. Finally made myself sit down and finish this!
This is for *theNekk's coloring contest!
I worked on and off on this for the past month, and I'm rather pleased with how it ended. There are some things that could use some improving, but I really felt like I was dragging my feet at the end of this so I let them be.
Something I'm really enjoying experimenting with is texture and pattern -- I think the overall texture in the piece helped give it a bit more life instead of just plain digital painting.

CHARACTER INFORMATION
Name: Yue-Hua
Birthday: February 5th
Likes: Glass beads, Wild flowers, Children
Dislikes: Pushy people, Cold and quiet nights, Being lost
Background/History: Born amidst the sounds of fireworks and the washings of jovial celebration, Yue-Hua came into the world as a good omen. Yue-Hua's earliest memories are of traveling forests with her mother and learning fortune telling as a trade. This remained as consistent as a vagabond life can be until the untimely passing of her mother. Having lost her only family and connection with the world, Yue-Hua nearly perished from starvation. On a whim of fate a hunter from a nearby community found her laying unconscious in mud and dried leaves and brought her to the lone physician in the area.
Yue-Hua now looks forward to the day when she will be ready to embark on her lifelong journey, but for the time being keeps the forest beside that little village awash with lantern light as she builds her confidence, learns how to interact with people, and acts as their lone good luck charm against the long and unforgiving Winter.
Personality: Generally kind and approachable, though timid when it comes to confrontation. Her youth and energy shine when she feels strongly about something, and she'll go far out of her way for children. Overall, her lack of people skills become more and more apparent the closer one gets to her; would-be friends or suitors will find her more and more aloof and withdrawn as they get closer to the real Yue-Hua.
Abilities: Nothing out of the ordinary for a dragon, nomad, or fortune teller. She's highly adept at wilderness survival, fairly competent at sleight of hand, is an on and off again clairvoyant (but getting better all the time) and can breath the tiniest bit of fire.
Possessions: A small pouch of goods for fortune telling, a pack with survival tools now showing signs of their age, a very well-kept and packaged dress and jewelry for telling the fortune of noblemen and royalty, and a small stack of folding paper lanterns, many of them gifted to her by locals.
